Regenerative periodontal therapy
The aim of regenerative periodontal therapy is the predictable reconstruction of the tooth supporting structures lost due to periodontal disease, thereby extending the longevity of the natural dentition and improving the quality of life for the patient. Significant progress has been made in the understanding of the biology of periodontal wound healing and new treatment concepts have emerged.
Today the clinician is faced with a large variety of materials and procedures which claim to promote periodontal regeneration and has often difficulties in making the appropriate treatment decision for a given indication. This lecture will assist in making evidence-based decisions to improve treatment outcomes and predictability. Clinical cases will be used to illustrate how regenerative therapy can change the prognosis of severely compromised teeth.
